Are donations to Bikes& Music tax-deductible?

Yes! Bikes & Music a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation. Receipts will be issued for tax purposes. 

The cash value of equipment donations, for tax purposes, will be estimated based on the condition and age of the item received. 

We also gratefully accept cash donations, which go towards repair and service costs. 

Ask your tax preparer about IRS guidelines for charitable contributions and your eligibility for these deductions.

What areas do you serve?

Currently, we are accepting requests from residents of Chicago and the nearby suburbs, including Cook, DuPage, Will, Lake, McHenry, Kane, Kendall and Grundy Counties. We may consider requests from other Chicagoland areas as our resources allow.

How do I get my donation of a bicycle or instrument to you?

We will schedule a date and time to pick it up from you! If you live outside of our service area, and you are willing to make the drive to one of our service partners, we will provide you with instructions for a drop-off location.

Do you give multiple bikes and instruments to schools, clubs or groups?

YES, absolutely! We have helped many schools other groups. Please reach out to us with your specific needs!

There is more than one child in my family. Can I request more than one item?

Yes. Tell us about your needs, and we’ll do our best to help.

Do I have to give the bike or instrument back?

We hope the bike or instrument brings joy and creates memories for life. But if the item is no longer being used, we would like it back so we can bring happiness to another child.  Let us know, and we’ll arrange pickup at no cost to you. 

Can I trade in the bike or instrument I received from you, for a different bike of instrument?

Yes! Just let us know what you’re looking for. We’ll set up a swap for you.
